How to Adjust the Lubrication Frequency for Plastic Mold Components

The lubrication frequency for plastic mold components should be flexibly adjusted based on actual operating conditions, usage intensity, and component characteristics. The core principle is to ensure adequate lubrication of friction surfaces while avoiding grease contamination or waste caused by over-lubrication. Specific adjustment methods are as follows:

Adjusting Base Frequency Based on Operating Intensity
‌Standard Continuous Production‌: Lubricate key moving parts-such as guide pillars, ejector pins, and sliders-once daily before production begins. Check the lubrication status every 12 hours to ensure sufficient grease on friction surfaces.
‌High-Frequency/High-Temperature Conditions‌: When molds operate continuously for 24 hours or process high-temperature engineering plastics, grease is consumed rapidly. Replenish lubrication 2–3 times daily to prevent component scoring caused by dry friction.
‌Low-Frequency/Intermittent Conditions‌: If the mold operates only 1–2 days a week, daily lubrication is unnecessary; a single application before startup suffices. During periods of prolonged inactivity, apply a basic lubrication treatment once a week.

Differentiated Adjustments Based on Component Type
‌High-Load Friction Components‌: Components such as large sliders, angle pins (lifters), and core-pulling mechanisms experience high frictional resistance during mold opening and closing. Replenish lubrication every 2,000 molding cycles to prevent excessive wear or jamming.
‌Low-Load Guiding Components‌: Components such as guide pillars and bushings feature tight clearances and smooth movement. Under standard conditions, lubricating once every 2–3 days is sufficient; frequent re-application is not required.
‌Precision Small Mold Components‌: Tiny ejector pins and micro-sliders in miniature molds require minimal lubrication, as excess grease can easily overflow and contaminate the product. Lubricate once every 1–2 days to prevent grease seepage from affecting the product's appearance.
